Our first Family History Tour in Slovakia.

"Back  to Slovakia After 82 Years" 

I had my first group -  Family History Searching  in September 2007.
Joseph Urbanik contacted me and asked me to help him to organized a very special trip for him and his family.  

Joseph - born in Slovakia, living his whole life with his entire family in USA. He came with his two daughters and his relatives to his beautiful land after 82 years. It took me a while to imagine how many years it was. 

Several generations. He was born in a very small village called Jamnik in Central Slovakia. As a three-year old boy, he and his entire family emigrated to the US. 

Now, at the age of 85 he decided to make a Holiday in Slovakia. Come to his country, to his village, to his relatives. We found his living relatives, they invited us for typical Slovak drinks, food & cakes.
Josef, slowly started  speaking his mother tongue with his relatives, they were chating about their families & family members. 

Then they accompanied us to the graveyard and showed us the ancestors's graves. We also met a local priest who opened a church for us and let Josef go in. 

It was a very sentimental day, full of memories and talks about a long past.  

It was an honor for me they let me organize & take part on such exceptional trip.
