Spas in Slovakia

The use of natural curative resources, baths, drinking mineral water and spa treatment generally have played an important role in medicine since long age and represent one of the oldest forms of treatment. Spas came into being around mineral water and thermal springs, and near sources of peat and mud. There are also so-called climatic spas in areas with especially clean air and healthy climates.

Among the most beautiful spas of Slovakia belong:
Piestany spa, Rajecke Teplice spa, Vysne Ruzbachy spa, Sliac spa

Bardejov spa
the area is rich in mineral waters. Bardejov spa is surrounded by beautiful woods, where you can enjoy long walks along well-kept trails. Bardejov mineral waters are natural, slightly to moderately mineralized, with healing effects. They are classified as hydrocarbonic - containing chloride and sodium - carbonic, cold, hypotonic, with a relatively high boric acid content.

Bojnice spa
located in the heart of Slovakia, a peaceful resort that thanks to its geographic location, climate and water composition provides ideal conditions for the curative tratment processes, regeneration and the rest of its guests. In Bojnice Spa - Thermal health town well known since the 16th century.
The spa has curative thermal waters at 28 - 52 degrees Celsius as well as thermal mud.
Diseases of the locomotive system & nervous disorders are treated here. Bojnice Spa is situated in the Upper Nitra hollow basin, at the eastern foot of the montain chain Little Magura at the height of 297 metres abouve sea level.

Dudince spa
is the youngest medical spa in Slovakia and is located in the south part of Slovakia. The region is famous for wineries and beautiful landscapes, clean environment and is free from industrial pollution. Spa is surrounded by the hills that provide a typically mild continental climate with plenty of sunshine and mild winter. With crystal clear waters, clean air and plenty of opportunities to experience nature, spa Dudince offers the perfect environment for spa-goers of all ages to improve their health.

Piestany
is natural curative sources of the biggest Spa in Slovakia - Piestany owes its reputation mainly to its unique natural springs of thermal mineral water, which rise from a depth of over 2,000 metres. These springs bring to our waters many specific chemical compounds and energy from the earths depths. 
This water is the main factor in the formation of our incomparable healing curative sulphur mud. It is a uniquely peculiar peloid which is the result of long-term reactions of thermal water with local soft rocks and specific bacterial micro flora.

Rajecke teplice spa
is situated in picturesque, very calm part of Slovakia in the valley of the river Rajčianka. The biggest enticement for meny visitors is wonderful nature with towered rocky formations, caves and cracks from limestones and dolomits.
Dominating feature and vanity of the spa Rajecke Teplice resort is the Aphrodite Spa House built in Classical style and furnished by the most modern diagnostic and therapeutic instruments. Many healing, relaxation and beautifying procedures are provided here.

Sklene teplice spa
is situated fourteen kilometres from the town of Ziar nad Hronom in the valley of the Tepla stream, which runs through the Stiavnicke vrchy hills of Central Slovakia. The village derives its name (sklene = glass, teplica = thermal spring) from the glassworks which existed here from as long ago as 1340 and from the warm mineral springs which were first mentioned in a chronicle from the 16th century.
The town of Sklenné Teplice is not so far from the famous historical mining town of Banská Štiavnica which has been added to the list of historical towns protected by UNESCO.

Sliac
is located in a beautiful natural setting by western part of Zvolen Valley in Slovenske Rudohorie Mountains Health resort Sliac is aimed and treating of the so-called civilization conditioned diseases, promarily chronic disorders of the circulatory system.
The Spa Sping erupts directly underneath the Spa House and is without any additional artifical treatment of the water, used for all sorts of medical purposes. Its watercontains sulphates, carbohydrates, magnesium and calcium. Fabulus curative water wells from 5 Natural Springs , whereby The Spa Sping is therapeutically the most important.
This Spring is one of four such springs in the World when comparing chemical composition. Patients with heart diseases are treated here for Hight blood pressure or Arteriosclerosis.

Trencianske spa
the health care in the Slovak health resort Trenčianske Teplice Spa has long - term tradition (first written report is since 1247) and is based mainly upon using of natural, mineral, thermal and sulphureous curative water.
The spa treatment of neurological diseases includes practically all kinds of neurological diseases except of epilepsy and attacks conditions. During the high season there is an international film festival on art and artists called ART FILM FESTIVAL. In the in the 19th century was designed a Turkisch bath Hammam which means bath in Arabic.

Turcianske spa
is the only spa in Slovakia to treat diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract. These are for the most part chronic inflammations of the bladder and urinary ducts, inflammations of the male reproductive organs and chronic inflammation of the prostate gland.
The spa Turcianske Teplice has had considerable success in the treatment of diseases of the motor system, such as rheumatic inflammation of the joints, chronic, degenerative diseases, especially of the hip and knee joints, spinal diseases as well as post-traumatic deformations.
Since 1993 children have also been successfully treated for the above-mentioned conditions.

Vysne Ruzbachy
Vysne Ruzbachy village was founded close to rich mineral/thermal/ springs at eastern bottoms of Spisska Magura. It is located 623 meters above sea level. Climatic and mineral spa at the edge of the pine forests, is surrounded by a large park, suitable for a stroll. Vysne Ruzbachy’s Spa exceptionally favourable climatic conditions, together with healing effects of mineral waters form the framework of the Spa curative programme.
There is also possibility to swim in the evenings in 4 outdoor swimming pools with 26 - 36°C warm mineral hydro carbonate and calcic magnesium water. The most famous crater-volcano has diameter of 12 metres.
