My husband and I did a 10 day private tour with Best Slovakia Tours. It was better than expected and all the hotels were perfection. They did a wonderful job selecting an itinerary and our guide Martin really went above board to show us everything that was of interest to us. His knowledge is remarkable.

We are in the United States while Peter (Best Slovakia Tours) is in Bratislava so we did all our planning communications via email. It went perfectly. Peter listened to all my wants and was very easy to work with. I should also mention how I discovered Best Slovakia Tours: Michal R is a leading genealogist in Slovakia. He was even referred to me by the head librarian at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in Iowa when I was there last year. I contacted Michal to see if he could be our guide while in Slovakia. He could not but he highly recommended I contact his good friend Peter. I am so glad that he did.

One goal of our trip was searching for information on my husband’s grandparents. Our guide Martin was wonderful working with us on tracking down clues and providing useful information. His experience working with previous clients and his knowledge of the history of Slovakia was a true asset. Martin also has great knowledge of the history of the other countries we visited on our trip and he is a lot of fun.

We had a wonderful time on our recent 11-day private tour of Slovakia. We enjoyed the mix of different scenery and activities on the trip – from churches and quaint villages, to rafting and hiking with beautiful mountain views. All the logistics were top notch, including nice hotels and comfortable transportation. But what really took the trip to the next level were the team members involved. Peter picked us up in Vienna and got us off to a great start with a day tour of Bratislava. Martin, our guide for the remainder of the trip, was outstanding! We appreciated not only his knowledge of all the sites we visited, but also his flexibility, friendliness, humor, and caring nature. Exceptional and memorable trip. One of the best we have done and highly recommended. We spent 4 days and saw most of Slovakia. From glacial lakes to churches to castles to wine yards. Martin was our guide and driver and travelled with us and was absolutely world class. He had such a deep knowledge on the country and seeing it through his eyes was an u forgettable experience. My spouse and I booked with Best Slovakia Tours (BST) because we wanted a private tour and most of the bigger tour companies did not offer the flexibility and personal touch we wanted for our tour.
Peter and Jane were very professional and easy to work with. Communicating with them to personalize our trip was painless considering the 9-hour time difference. We received an initial itinerary and made custom changes to which Peter was happy to accommodate.
At the start of the tour, Peter and Jane hosted us at their home for a welcome dinner. Unfortunately, Peter was unable to be there due to a pre-existing commitment. Jane was a very gracious host and we enjoyed our evening with delicious food and refreshing beverages.
While we were on the trip any glitches that came up were addressed immediately and resolved. The accommodations were comfortable and located near local attractions and restaurants.
Our guide, Tomáš (Tom), was exceptional and very knowledgeable about the history and the culture of all the places we toured. He went out of his way to accommodate all of our needs. Tomáš was very easy to talk to and we felt very comfortable conversing with him on many topics, which made for a very enjoyable journey. We both learned so much from him and I hope our paths cross again.

I had a great time on this tour of Slovakia and highly recommend Best Slovakia Tours for anyone who is interested in seeing the country and nearby locations. My dad and I had interest in visiting Slovakia due to our ancestry and wanted to do a tour since we’ve never been there before and it was only my 2nd time in Europe.
Peter and Jane were super helpful during the whole booking process and answered any questions that my father and I had.

We did the Private Best of Slovakia tour and saw lots of amazing sights. Martin was a wonderful and fun tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and had lots of great recommendations for food and other sights. He was even able to find the village where our family most likely came from based on the town name I had from records. Being able to visit and see this area made the trip extra special.

Since it was a private tour I really enjoyed the flexibility of it. We were able to add on to our tour so we were picked up in Vienna and added tickets and tour of Schonnbrunn Palace, and also dropped off in Zagreb at the end of our tour. Everything was very convenient.
The hotels were also all very nice and comfortable. I loved seeing the High Tatras and despite having a fear of heights I was happy I was able to take a cable car up to Lomnicky peak!

I recommend this company for anyone looking to do a private tour of Slovakia and I would definitely use them again if I’m able to visit in the future! Sarah / USA / group size 2 / May 2025

My sincere compliments to Peter and Jane for their impeccable planning that allowed me to experience a trip of a lifetime. Every possible detail of this trip was executed smoothly from our group tour to my private tours with experienced guides. All the restaurants chosen by Peter were excellent, serving wonderful meals. Lodging was wonderful. Peter’s knowledge of Slovak history is incredible. His love of “his” Slovakia is truly evident in his presentations. As a solo traveler, I appreciated the opportunity to make new friends and explore the beautiful country of Slovakia. In September 2025 I was fortunate to experience an excellent 10 day heritage tour of Slovakia with Peter of Best Slovakia Tours. They made all the arrangements for transportation, excellent hotels, wonderful meals, interesting historical and geographic sites and they facilitated extended stays and private excursions to explore areas outside the scheduled itinerary. Peter, who is very personable, has an extensive knowldege of Slovak geography, culture, and histrory and shared it readily and graciously answered all our questions. Words that can be used to descibe the trip include safe, comfortable, stress-free, efficient, interesting, organized and enjoyable. Each morning of the tour I wondered how the day could surpass the prior day and Peter made it happen! How can a double rainbow over Strbské Pleso be beat? The price of the trip was very resonable. I attended the Slovakia Ancestry Tour in May 2025. Peter and Michal were the tour guides for the trip. What a wonderful experience! We traveled across the entire country of Slovakia, from Bratislava in the west all the way to the far reaches of the east, with many great stops in between. It was great to sit back and enjoy the scenery while Peter and Michal drove and told us about Slovak history, geography, and culture. There were plenty of stops along the way with a great variety of sights to behold. I also got a chance to visit a couple of my ancestral villages along the way. I highly recommend a Best Slovakia Tours trip!

My daughter and I had a wonderful adventure in the country of her great-grandparents through the personalized and welcoming services of Best Slovakia Tours (“Slovak Ancestry Tour”). We visited historic cities like Levoca and Bardejov, and saw natural beauty of the countyside and Tatra mountains. We sampled traditional crafts (pottery in Modra), food (including my best-ever wine-tasting experience in Tokaj region), and music. We also visited the new Museum of Slovak Emigration, which would be of interest to family history buffs. Peter, a native of Bratislava, shared his perspective on the changes in Slovakia during his lifetime. He was resourceful in offering alternative experiences in inclement weather and in making suggestions for use of free time. Michal, with his background in genealogy, is helpful in finding ancestral villages and possibly connecting with living relatives. My husband and I had used his help during our 2015 travel, also with Best Slovakia Tours. Our guides have been fluent in English, which is invaluable! I highly recommend this family-owned business which has proved helpful, reliable, and a valuable resource for becoming acquainted with this beautiful country.
