We booked two private tours: (1) a standard day trip to Bojnice Chateau and Cicmany village and (2) a custom tour of the High Tatras with Spis Castle. The entire experience was amazing. The booking / planning phase was so smooth, as Peter was always ready to accommodate our requests and provide different options and suggestions to make the most out of our days. Both tours were excellent and so was our guide. We loved both the planned and unplanned stops. The trip had a perfect mix of fun, educational, inspiring, and spontaneous experiences, with delicious local food. Our guide Martin was always ready to adjust to every situation and make the trip an unforgettable experience; he is fun to spend time with (and a great photographer!).

Best Slovakia Tours receives our highest recommendation! Tom

We decided to take a day trip out of Bratislava to see some of the countryside. Overall we enjoyed the tour, but, ironically, not for the two destinations. What we enjoyed the most were getting out of the city and seeing the countryside of Slovakia as we drove out to the destinations. And we enjoyed how friendly and knowledgable our guide Martin was. We also enjoyed walking around Bojnice Chateau itself.
The downside of the trip was the tour itself of Bojnice Chateau. It was nearly 2 hours long, it was only in Slovak (though Martin translated some for us) and it spent most of the time talking about the art in the rooms. If we had a do over, we'd skip the formal tour. Ideally we could do a self-guided tour (with Martin) of the castle. But I don't think they allow that. In which case, we'd just skip the whole castle tour and focus on walking around the castle. Cicmany village was underwhelming. I am not sure what I was expecting, but when we got there and saw the houses, it was a feeling of "this is it?" Again, the enjoyable part was just walking around and enjoying nature. But I wouldn't go out of my way to see Cimany Village. Eric

This was a superb tour and Peter was excellent. There are no audio tours or English speaker guides here, so we were given a truly private tour to view this magnificent building. You need to be fairly fit as stairs are many. We were taken to a restaurant for lunch which offered lovely Slovak food and craft beer which was wonderful. A drive through spectacular countryside to see this gem of a village which was so unusual and you could run out of battery on this trip as photo opportunities are options throughout the day for sure. He also stopped, at our request, enroute back to our city hotel to view the Blue Church and we cannot thank him enough. More like a host than a guide, very knowledgeable and lovely guy and on our return trip will be used again as he was great.Andre

I wanted a tour that was “off the beaten path”. Peter was on time when he picked me up at my hotel, and he was warm, friendly and personable. He even had some water in the car for me. He’s so nice and highly knowledgeable, speaks fantastic English. We chatted on the drive to Bojnice and it was never boring or awkward. The tour of Bojnice wasn’t in English so Peter helpfully translated for me. The Castle was really beautiful!! Very different from many of the other castles I’ve seen. We had a fantastic lunch at a place Peter recommended. The little postcard village we went to after was beautiful as well! Overall it was a top notch day trip!! I’d definitely book a tour with Peter again and I’d definitely return to Bratislava and Slovakia!

My wife and I picked the Bojnice Chateau and Cicmany private trip and hoped it would be a relaxing, romantic day in the middle of our European trip. We were not disappointed. Peter picked us up from our hotel in Bratislava and the car was very clean and comfortable (leather seats). Peter was very knowledgeable not just about specific sights on the drive to Bojnice Castle but general history of Slovakia and able to provide insights and context. Bojnice Chateau was even lovelier than the photos we had seen on the internet and had many surprise rooms inside. Important to know: if you go in shoulder season (we were there in April), the Chateau may only have tours in Slovak running. There were no options to tour the inside without a guide. In our case, this was no issue because Peter translated along the tour. A surprise was the Bojnice zoo right beside the Chateau (we didn’t go to it).
We stopped for lunch at BioGraf (aka Stare kino) restaurant which had a large menu, good prices and good beer selection.
Next we drove to Čičmany , which has preserved the traditional wooden homes with their unusual decorations. This is a very quiet, hillside village that has protected status and I liked the traditional crafts that were for sale.
Good to know: this village is quite small and the interpretive signs are in Slovak which Peter translated for us. We then traveled straight back to Bratislava (2hrs). I would recommend this tour if you have more than 2 days in Slovakia and want a break from city sightseeing. Brett, Canada
