Every year more and more people discover the oasis of the Austrian Alps. The dazzling emerald lakes nestled between towering mountains are the perfect haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

Austria,

What is Austria famous for? Mountains – the Alps cover around 60% of the country, no wonder Austria is famous for skiing. The most visited city is Vienna, the capital ranks among the best cities for quality of life (it won this award already 10 times), nicknamed as City of Music or City of Dreams. Salzburg, famous not only as a Mozart’s birthplace, but also for numerous baroque jewels in the city. And the mighty fortress above the Old town.

Coffee culture is big in Austria. Try Viennese Melange (espresso, hot water and whipped cream). Austrian cuisine and the most famous dish – Wiener Schnitzel (a thin slice of veal, breaded and fried with potato salad). It’s delicious. Cake? Sacher Torte is the number one, a double-layered, dense chocolate cake with a strip of apricot jam, served with a whipped cream.

What about famous Austrians? Ladies for sure know Swarovski Crystals, founder Daniel Swarovski was born in present-day Czechia, but, set up his business in Austria. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the world-famous bodybuilder and the winner of Mr. Olympia and Mr. Universe as well as the famous actor (Terminator). Sigmund Freud – the most famous psychoanalyst and Red Bull energy drink. Thai businessman Chaleo Yoovidhya invented the drink and Austrian marketing guru Dietrich Mateschitz created the biggest drink empire in the world. Gustav Klimt, – one of the most celebrated Austrian painters of the 19th-20th centuries. His most famous painting is The Kiss which you can admire in the Belvedere Gallery in Vienna. And the list could go on and on…
