It was king Charles Robert in the 14th century who gave privileges to free royal and mining towns. A special privilege was that of coinage. The mint of Kremnica, – the world oldest still running mint. The mint of Kremnica also produced the ducats, which were highly praised for their quality and beauty and joined the most favorite coins in Europe. We walk around the town square and admire its dominance – the castle and the gothic church of St. Catherine. Baroque Trinity Pillar.
